On the morning of the 12th of January 2011 my pontoon, walkway and mooring posts were destroyed as a result of the Brisbane River flooding and a piece of the Brisbane City Council’s walkway breaking away and slamming into my pontoon and walkway.

I immediately contacted both my Insurance Company and the Brisbane City Council and informed them of the incident.  This resulted in my insurance Company CGU giving me the go ahead to get a quote to replace both the pontoon and walkway.

I did some investigating with my neighbours as to a reliable pontoon and jetty Builder.  I was given the name of Brian Pearson from Bayside Marine.  I contacted Brian and he arrived the next day and examined the damage and indicated to me he would give me a quote to replace the damaged pontoon and walkway and supply two mooring posts.  Within a week I had received the quote and forwarded this on to CGU for approval to re-build.  Subsequently I was given the approval and made contact with Bayside Marine. 

Within 8 weeks Brian arrived with his crew and removed the old pontoon and walkway and installed the new system. 
To say I was happy with the result would be an understatement, the workmanship was first class, both Brian and his crew were efficient and tradesman like in their approach.  They went out of their way to ensure the pontoon was fitted to the specifications, aligned correctly to the bank and the mooring posts were well positioned.

The end result was I have a pontoon, walkway and mooring posts that in my opinion are one of the best along the river.  Compared to others in the area, this system does not bounce around when the Brisbane City Cats pass by.  You can stand on my pontoon with comfort whilst watching the other pontoon systems bounce around like corks.  The finish of the pontoon is excellent and the walkway with the timber infill is extremely well constructed.
I would not hesitate in recommending Brian Pearson and Bayside Marine to any person who is requiring a first class pontoon, walkway or jetty built.

Bayside Marine Services constructed a jetty for us on the Brisbane River in May 2012 to replace a pontoon lost in the flood. It has been a very positive experience and we are delighted with the end result. We were also most impressed with their handling of all of the planning approval and administrative aspects, with ongoing communication a real strength and benefit of dealing with a hands-on principal like Brian Pearson. Several changes were made once the piles and deck were in place to make a step feature from the lawn and also include side stairs to gain access when using a kayak. Brian provided excellent practical guidance with the changes and at reasonable cost. From the arrival of the barge on site the jetty was completed in just over three weeks, including the changes made to the steps and the addition of the side stairs. We have no hesitation in recommending Bayside Marine Services.

We were also extremely grateful with the Company's ability to re-negotiated (for us) with MSQ after it was determined that the location allocated for our new swing mooring site was unsuitable due to the size and draft of our vessel.
